LAST DAY!(: 19th March

Hmm,didn't expect to be back here so soon,I thought yesteerday was the last day of MOIP1.

The whole of MOI year ones gathered at LT 25 this afternoon for the screening of our projects. It feels really nice at these times. You meet everyone you didn't see for so long and a cosy feeling comes in. We sat together and we laugh,talk and joke. This is the time when we see everyone's work and applaud them for their efforts and heave a sigh of relief.

Finally a heavy workload is off our shoulders and you can really feel the burden lifting off when you see everyone having fun,because it's the last day!!(:

I believe many feel the same way as me too. haha

Wow,and today was really an eye opener, saw many fresh new ideas,beautiful audios that I would never have been able to come up with and also some really excellent animations from Raj's ,Naf's and Tri's group, and including Adeline who is very good at it. It really inspired me to do well for my course. And I'm really lucky to have Adeline in my group,her animation is soooo professional!!^^^^

The comments for our video was that the sound quality was really bad,which was very true and Cheryl and I felt that it was actually a little boring.I hoped we could have added more comedy
the next time if there is a chance.

We've learnt something new,and our journey will continue on. Hope that the many months of struggles and sadness Ihad during the past year will help strengthen me to be a more confident person,like voicing out your thoughts without fear during group disccussions,or even learn to be more socialable everywhere you go.

This marks the end of my first year in Temasek Design School Moving Images Course!(:

Day 30

Yay!! Hi-5!

Our video is only left with the uploading to do.
My group members were already at it when I came down to meet them. Sorry! They're really nice people. I'm glad all this is soon coming to an end with our stress levels decreasing.

Things are looking brighter now. No more bad feeling! haha.
Am quite glad that the audio pieces I passed to Cheryl were used. Made me feel more contribution given in one way or another.

Playing back the video,and especially when it came to the bloopers part, I had a good laugh with my groupmates. It brought back such memories.At least, it softened the atmosphere and it made me feel, it wasn't that bad afterall,although we had met with so much roadblocks along the way, we had our fair share of laughs too.

Just the other day I was walking with Cheryl and she told me,"this project will cause some to lose their frienddships,however,it will also stregthen some bonds."

It got me thinking,and how true it was I felt. Feels quite emo,but yeah, we have reached the last day and Cheryl just told me on MSN to take pictures together tomorrow as it is the last day of our MOIP1 and our group.

We will be majoring in different things after this,I'll miss everyone, and for some,quite alot.

Day 29

Went to school again at 9 for Mfund before going down to meet the rest at 12.Was feeling rather sleepy from these few days.

Felt quite stressed these few days as I thought we might be unable to complete the video on time.Sice Friday aftrnoon,I rushed out the storyboards till around 5am in the morning so that I can bring it for the group to check, and hopefully,start on my Mfund projects after that.

Although we met up on Saturday to continue our work,Cheryl and I somehow had a bad feeling.

After that while waiting for the editing to be done by the rest, I did the titles of our modules to be put into the video with a little flash in it.Didn't expect that I will have to do till evening time.): After that,we uploaded the swf files and guess what?!! Cheryl found a spelling error in one of my titles. haha. Luckily she had sharp eyes.I had been looking at it for hours and didn't realise it. Sorry, my bad. hehe. Adeline then helped me correct it and we picked another font together which has improvised it's looks! happy. 

I went home with Adeline after that while poor Cheryl stayed behind for the uploading works with Derick, but he Cheryl asked him to leave first.

I guess I shall blog till here,got lotsa stuff piling up.STRESS!

Friday

For the 1st time,I'm worried that it's already Friday although this is the day where i can finally get some rest.

Derick has a dental appointment today so he didn't come.
There are so many things left untouched and so many deadlines to fulfil. Adeline is stil rushing on animation,and Cheryl as always, editing our video. She's like the video queen in our group.haha
Luckily we have her,professional.lol. I'm quite lousy at video editing especially.

Adeline's animation is also super high standard.Super cute and looks very original and captivating!
Pressurising to be in animation with her.lol

Tomorrow we will still go back to school too. Derick has a wedding dinner to attend,so he won't be able to come too,but he says he'll be looking for the video's background music over the weekends.

Alfie told us that the screenshots of the video are not considered as storyboards. So I will be doing them. I hope I can finish soon,mayb by tomorrow latest then at least I can start on Mfund without worrying too much.

Oh my,I feel so stressed,I think I will not go to bed tonight so that i can finish the whole storyboard in one day and bring it to school to show Adeline and Cheryl tomorrow should there be a need for any changes.

Thursday

Encountered some problems in Mfund, rushed down for MOIP1 interim,but I was really late. The whole group was already there and the interim's almost done. I'm sorry. After that I had to rush off for my other interview while the group went to eat.

After all the interviews ended,I met up with the group and cheryl was editing the software and Adeline was on her animation.

Hmm,I wonder how should we spice up our video so that it will be more attention grabbing.
Perhaps we can reduce the footage of the host and add in more of our portfolio works so that we can see more stuff.

After Derick left,the three of us discussed more in detail while waiting for the video to be uploaded too.
I thought of an idea that maybe as the host speaks,we can zoom into perhaps his mouth or something then it fades off and leads to our artworks so as to add a lilttle comedy in it too.

But Adeline says there's a time constraint,so we shall see.

hello!

Oh,I thought presenation was today,but it's been postponed to tomorrow.):

Am really tired now,quite sad, our video was filmed in the wrong size and we may have to re-film the whole thing?!!!

I guess I may go crazy from all that's happening.
Got animation and MMFund to do now, made some changes to our title and will go edit it soon.

Wednesday is coming, means our presentation is due!

We are so much behind schedule as the camera experienced lots and lots of techinal problems.
There were times when the vieo could not be uploade at all, there was totally zero response, and there were times when we are finally able to upload, thesound dosen't go in sync with the video and we have to redo it all over again. Before all that we had to find out the cause of the problem too, and doing so, we had to run down to the camera loan room for almost about 9 times just to change the fire wire, tape of camera to find out which is working and which is not.

Fustrations.):

About 6 plus 7pm, the video uploading was finally successfully uploaded.
There Cheryl and Derick rushed the editing so that Mr Alfie can see it and comment on it tomorrow and Adeline and I rushed our animation parts.

Too much work,too little time, guess I better continue my work now.

Heya,back to the blogging world.

I'm begining to really feel hard to keep updating the blog punctually.Am trying hard.

But finally,Derick has recoverd and the group is back to production,2 things to be feel relief about.
Yea,Adeline and I have decided to do more animation together cos it seems to be a little too little.haha.

Cheryl and Derick will be doing the video's editing.
Wow,I feel Cheryl is very hardworking, helping us to upload the video into her com saving us alot alot of time!!

Wdnesday is our interim again,nice nice Mr Alfie said he could give us the 12 pm slot.
THANK YOU MR ALFIE!! saved us alot of time and we can continue doing lotsa our other stuffs.

So now we have to start preparing ourselves for it. Our next medium big thing.

Day 23

Friday is finally here, haha. Am quite tired from MOI and MMFund, hope it all comes down to something good as my energy level has depleted alot already.

Derick is sick,so he's not been here since yesterday and Cheryl,Adeline and I continued.
We were supposed to meet today fo further editing but no arrangement was made yesterday night and now,after Mfund, they cancelled it.

But there was an urgent meeting called up by Moses at 4.30 later on,so I just have to stay till then.):

I'm so bored, I've got a few hours to kill.

Day 22

After mfund today,Cheryl told me Derick was not coming and Adeline would be late,so we both just sat there for awhile and Cheryl accompanied somewhere before going to the library,thank u!(:

Met Adeline there and there we went to the 2d animation studio to upload our video,but can't!
Initially thought it was the fire wire,thus we went down to change and came back up,still didn't work,then realised it was the camera,went down to change and finally can!

But this time,all the computers we tried, about three of them didn't work till the third. Just then,Cheryl said she could upload it at home for us so we did not have to wait there for many hours cause we have THREE tapes. haha. Thanks alot!!!!

Thus we had a short day and left after lunching together.
Hope tomorrow will be a short day too,got lotsa work to do for Mfund,but I know it's not very possible.haha.

Day 22-End of our shoot

We started the day filming the introduction outside the 2D art animation room.
Then, we went to film inside the animation studio,before going to the ground level to film the end of the video animation module.

After that,we went to the 3D art studio and e-space to film our "interview" parts.

YAY!!

We have officially finished the filming part of our video today.
Initially I thought we would be late in that part and may have to rush towards the end,luckily,it's over now and my fears are gone.(:

But we have alot of editing,voice over and animation stuff to do in compiling our video together.
Through the days we faced countless problems due to the stress in us and those emitted from classmates in our cohort too. All the other groups have very interesting ideas in their video and are very much better and ahead of our us.

Although we may not be as good as theirs,but at least we have put in our best and that's more than enough for me. We have started from arguments to discussion,teamwork and finally team spirit.I hope the later part of our journey will grow to be better and more fufilling.
I am really grateful for everything that has helped us come thus far and I hope the later days will be smooth too.

Tomorrow is a rest day for the group,so I can rest too, after my morning class in the morning.):

Day 21

We did not have shooting last Friday,thus we shot more today.

At the start,I was a late doing my Mfund assignment.
After that I went to find them and we discussed for very long before starting.
So far, we shot the 2D art animation room today and after that went to shoot outside the studio before heading for lunch.

Then, Adeline's friend came to help us do our shoot.So nice of them!
After our food, we contiued our shoot with the help of Adeline's friend, amended our script too and shot the conclusion.

tomorrow we will be shooting the end of the Video funda,ental module,2D art and Drawing essentials.Hmm,nervous as we all have to be on camera! haha

Day 19

Its Thursday,we decided to do a shoot outside of school as a field trip from photography lesson re-enactment.

We decided to meet at 12 and head dow together,however,as Derick said it looked like it was going to rain,he adviced that we do not go over to Little India,so we were all suggesting of many many places to go. However we discussed so long till we got hngry and went to grab a bite and continue at the same time.

Finally,we decided to go the esplanade!
Initially,Derick refused to go there as we checked the weather forecast and it said there will be rain.But guess what, it did not rain,instead it was burning hot,I think we all came back tanner.

The guards came and chased us away twice as we were filming on their grounds as we unknowingly were still a little too close to their premises,but all was well at the end.

Everyone was exhausted by the scorching sun.
My head was spinning a little by then already and the equipments were so heavy.

Adeline was fanning herself so much with a folded piece of paper,
Derick was too distracted he couldn't remember his lines..
ans the cute Cheryl was melting..

We all were close to DYING!
Haha,luckily we went back to esplanade and there was aircon and soft chairs!!!
We headed down to Hagen Dazs for ice cream!
After that we watch the rehersals concert by the NUS orchestra,so nice.

Haha,that's about the whole day.

Day 18

Hey all,

Today we continued filming the video fundamental module.
While waiting for the group to arrive, Germain's group needed help and thus acted for them for a short while. As i hid behind the flags at Design entrance waiting for my cue to walk out,I peeped my head out a lilttle,just then some other students walk past and got a scare from me,oops!Aha.

Then the group came and we discussed what we were doing for the day.
We decided to finish up the video fundamentals part and the introduction of the video.

There were some problems with the sounds as the voice recorded was far too soft to be heard. Derick even thought of changing the host to Adeline as her voice was sharper,and thus clearer, making it much easier to capture.

Hmm, Derick had not memorised his lines yet, we spent quite awhile waiting for him to memorise,and thus he brought back the script today and hopefully,all factors will make shooting smoother tomorrow.

We will be going to Little India tomorrow for our Photography module.
Pray hard it will be well.

Day 17

Hmm, it was not a very beautiful day and the sky cried too.

We started grooup meeting at about 11 to finalise details we had for the filming to be done later in the day. Yichuin's group were coming to help us act ,so nice of them! After that, we went and helped them act too.(:

Hmm,however, later in the day we had many disagreements as we realised the angle we wanted to film at first was not what we desired. Oh my god, our disagreements lasted for an hour before we could start, sorry actors!

The result was actually quite satisfying. It was a slapping scene.

I guess we have a new lesson to learn,to plan ahead well of everything before shooting starts..

DAY 16-1st day new block

Wow, we have finally reached the first day of the new block and its really tiring.

All my group members are having one module now, but I have two! how sad is that.):
Hmm, buti'll strive hard.

Had Mfund at 9,then went to get the camera and tripod after lesson.And crossed the bridge opposite to pass cheryl the camera and tripod to charge as I had to rush off somewhere,and after that Icrossed back to school. Wow, the equipments was really heavy!! haha

Hmm, there are no lessons for Mfund for tomorrow, but have to go shoot our video.
O, how nice it would be if I didn't have Mfund today but tomorrow,since today my group members are resting and I'm the only one in school, at least could rest for one day.Haha
Yeps, I know life's like that and the world dosen't revolve around for me. 

Hmm, hopefully tomorrow shooting will be smooth as we have to include many new people playing the role as actors and actresses we have not worked before with.But I'm looking forward to it.

Day 15

The last day of MOIP1 first module!! YAY!

Haha,we finally had the last day of lesson today by presenting our progress so far.
Things weren't so smooth for the group afterall, there were little hiccups.

Now, we have planned to do the shooting within the next two to three weeks, hopefully everything will go smoothly. Dicussed with the group and everyone has agreed to compromise our ideas so that we can work as a team. I'm really glad that my teamate came to the realisation of the importance of teamwork and that no man is an island. Everyone is equal and has a share in everything the group does. (:

Noone is at fault, and we're all here to learn.
I truly hope we'll have a good time working together as a team!

We all have our talents and shortcomings, thus, we combine our efforts to make it a good one.

Day 14

Heard that tomorrow will be the last day and that means we can have a day off from lessons. Finally, a time to rest!(:

Been having headaches from sleepless nights,luckily we have come thus far.haha
Hmm,today we didn't really do much during discussion time,just allocated the work for each member.

Adeline the pro will be animating our gunload bunny.
Very sweet Cheryl will be doing the time schedule.
I will be doing the storyboards.
Lastly,brave Derick will be presenting for tomorrow's presentation.

Day 13

hello .):

Today hadn't really been a really good day,but we completed our reccee at least.
There were some disagreements between some and there was tensions within the group i guess.

Hopefully everything will turn out better tomorrow and our group members would not feel so stressed, relax people. Let's do our best and take whatever obstacles come our way as a passing experience and lesson learnt.I will take things as it goes and do my best.

We will be starting our storyboards tomorrow.

Really hope all would be fine and everyone would be happy.

Day 12

This is the last week of the module.

Oh,I can't wait for shooting to start,but there's abit of fear in it too.(:

We continued writing the script today and we're near the end.
A little slow now and there was a little disagreement during disscussion today. But its alright, I think I was abit stubborn. haha.

Later the group of us went to reccee around the school again today so that we can get our storyboards drawn out soon.We decidede to use the design entrance which has posters of all the various courses in design school for the photography part I think.

The whole process of finding the place was quite funny.I don't really understand why, maybe I'm just not very used to the group's seriousness, especially Derrick's haha.

Afterwards, Cheryl took a picture of us at that spot at the wind blew at us, my hair flew up and it looked like a mushroom. Very funny, but i looked very dumb too, so I hid my embarrasement by laughing away. haha

Hmm, I guess that was the end of our day.
So far,so slow. haha. [just kidding]

Day 11

The weekends are really here. Next week will be the last week of this block.

So far I just realised our group have haven't completed the scripting . Hmm, a little worried, but i guess it should be alright.

There are a few times we had problems linking the the end of a module to the next. There we will think of some little gimmicks to add in. Haha.

Overall today has been quite the same as the day before, we should start going into more detailed planning too. But the script is the crux of it all. Once we have gotten the script out, everything else should fall into place.

Day 10

It's Thursday. Happy valentine's to all.(:

So many groups have started filming their works and I'm really a little worried. But my group says not to worry and that we'll cope well in the end. I hope all turns out well.

We did our script during lesson today. We all discussed how we should start and how to end some parts. Overall its was rather fun. Later we went to eat and discussed further while waiting for the next lesson to start. Howeverr I had to leave for awhile and the group carried on and completed. It was really nice of them.

Hmm, at least we have the script written up and i will know more clearly what are we supposed to do and there we are able to plan more clearly for everything now.

Day 9

It's a new day!
Another discussion day, we went to reccee the places for shooting around the school.

A brief summary of our project are as follows:

Start:

We will have a short animation followed by a few snapshots
of the school to link us to the next scene.
Then, Derrick,our walking host will make an appearance, giving a brief introduction of our course, Moving Images and there we will begin the introduction of the various modules.

The various modules we will be touching on are Drawing essentials followed by 2D art then Video fundamentals, and last but not least, Photography.

Middle:

For Drawing essentials, we are planning on having a small class drawing the walking host and in it there we will crack some jokes to give it a lighter feel.

For 2D Art,hmm, I'm not too sure. haha

For Video fundamentals, the walking host will walk into a on going shooting scene, but sadly, he gets slapped in that role. So funny. I think that's rather interesting. hopefully.haha(:

As for photography, the four of us will head down to little india to show the experiences of our outdoor trips doing our projects and having fun in the process.

Next, we will show some shots of our portfolio works and maybe add in a short explanation as well.

After all this, we will come together for a last time to encourage all to join our course and we will end it there with bloopers and blunders at the end.

Day 8

hello!
time passes rather fast,and soon the weekends will come.(:

Today was group discussion day.It was rather fruitful.
Alas our project is taking shape and we have come up with more plans for the future.

Although we are quite slow as compared to the rest, I hope it will all turn out well in the end.
Our scheldule are as follows:

1.Monday: scripting and taking shots of the school.
2.Tuesday to the next week: storyboarding and scripting.
3.Wednesday: portfolio selection.
4.Friday to the next week: see the final animation works.

Day 7

Finally, the long awaited chinese new year holidays are over.):

Alfie briefed us on little issues from each group had today and also asked us to approach the year 2s and 3s if we want to include film production 
experiences in our video as they are doing their video projects now.

We also had to plan ahead of time our production dates.
The stuff that we are required to submit at the end of this block are:

-Storyboards.
-Time and production schedule.
-Locations and facilities needed.
-List of people we want to include.
-Whoose portfolio works we are including.
-Timeline.
-And all screen graphics animations have to come with a hard copy.

Ronald joined the class for a little while in the middle of lesson and explained that although our contents are restricted to our works in the past year only, we are free to present it creatively any way we want.

Alfie mentioned a few pointers on creativity which set me thinking too.

Thinking out of the box and applying things learnt from previous modules,
however, doing it a way no one has ever done before,such that it is a fresh and appealing idea,
yet taking in mind the purpose and highlight it will give to your client's product.

Abit long.haha, got a little confused writing the sentence too.lol

Day 6- Presentation!

hello!(:

Its presentation day!
Wow,I'm really tired. My eyes are tearing. ):
My motivation for today was that it was the last day of school before the chinese lunar new year holidays!
haha,I'm actually not as innocent as i seem to be. hehe.

We were the third group to present. I was a little sad initially as the slide i spent quite long on was cut away quite alot as Adeline actually had all the more detailed information in her book already so my stuff was actually a little redundant. 
haha, but its alright, its for the benefit of everyone. At least we can to shorten it further! (:

Thankfully,our very nice groupmate Derrick helped us to present our ideas. We are all shy people. haha.After the presentation of the first two groups,we realised that our group's ppt slides were super duper long long long,(about 11 pages) and it will definitely exceed 5 mins. We looked at each other in embarrasement and were having butterflies in our stomaches. =X

Thus, I tink Derrick sucked in a deep breath and zoom on like a train continuously! haha.
Everything went on smoothly. It's a relief that presentation was finally over.(:

Preparation for Presentation 1.

Hello again(:

Day 5 is here!
Tomorrow will be the presentation, nervous? yea,a little,somehow.
haha.Hope all will be well.
Adeline was absent today, our ideas generator was sick today,had bad headaches. Missed her voice and laughter.
Hmm, sounds abit lesbo? Nah, we're just friends, haha.Get well soon girl!!

Alfie briefed us today on tomorrow's presentation.
We had to explain how we came up with our video ideas, and how we proceeded as designers to how we plan to make the end product.
We are to decide on the genre of the video and the message we want to bring across to our audiences.Thus,for the presentation tomorrow, we have to present our ideas either in the form of drafts,sketches or boards to support our ideas and thus show our plans in it. 

The whole presentation should last for only about five minutes as Alfie wanted to make it a fast one.(:

All in all, Alfie wants to see our grroundwork and how far we had gone ahead with our design process and progress.

Day 4-Content and Video

Hello.(:

We were briefed by Alfie today on some compulsory matters we had to include in our MOIP1 video project.

They were:

1.) Interviews
2.)Interviewees
3.)Visual Overlay
4.)Opening Intro
5.)Closing


Essentials of a video and it's content.

1.) STYLE

Once again, we also looked into the style of our video we want to present it in.
( This was Alfie's way of making sure we were close to our requirements and refer back to our checklist constantly.)

The various elements that make up a style are as follows:

1.) Theme
2.) Look
3.)Graphics
4.)Text
5.)Audio : sounds,music,soundtrack,sfx etc.
6.)Content Layout : script.

Alfie also explained to us that his preferred way of making a video is by planning all the elements first with the content layout being the last so that it will be easier to come up with related topics that fits the script. And the opening introduction should last for at least 5 minutes if it is 30 mins long and at least 3 mins if it is 10 mins long.

2.)What are we selling ?

We have also got to be very clear of what impressions we intend for our audiences to walk away with at the end after watching the video.

3.)Objective-How do we engage?

Thus, we have to know what objective do we want to sell. Do we want them to feel the fun,the adventures and excitement involved, or how different we are from the others that makes us outstanding?

4.)OUTLOOK

Yet, at the same time, consider how do we achieve this.
At the end of it all, we have to decide the outlook of our video. Do we want it be a MTV style, a documentary, or amazing race style,etc.

Day 3- Video viewing

hello.(:

I was a little late for lecture today,went in the hall when everyoone was seated. Felt bad and a little embarrased. So i just stayed in a small corner. Luckily no one reallynoticed.haha

Alfie was briefing us today, the lecturer in-charge of my class and he addressed the focus and desired result problems which can be found in my previous entry that surfaced in our class to the whole of MOI so that other classes can all learn from our mistakes through various video examples he brought in.

A few other problems were also addressed by Alfie and another lecturer Wahida too.

They were:

-Whether it was a must to include every single one of the subjects learnt in the past year.

-Whether or not should we post and share all our ideas on the blog for fear that others may come up with similar ideas too.

For the answer to the first question, it was not compulsory,however we are to document the journey of our learning process, and through this we can choose to show it through our works done in the various subjects did in the past one year.

As for the answer to the second question which was answered by Wahida, she explained that it was alright for us to share with everyone our ideas so that we can all learn from each other and also monitor our progress as compared to the rest.

Thereafter,Wahida sowed us some videos which she thought may be useful to us too,however, I didnt really understand what it was trying to potray and where is the focal point.

Overall, it was a long day at the lecture theatre today.

Day 2- Clarifying our doubts.

Hey, its day 2! yay! haha.

I'm having a bad headache, but it was still a nice day as we were clearer on the direction of the video we had to create.

Alfie re-briefed us today about our concepts and ideas of the video and explained that most of us has actually headed the 
wrong direction in the focus points of our video.

He named 3 main points that we were to take into serious considerations.

They are:

1) What is the product?
2)What does the product do?
3) Who are we doing it for?

We have been focusing too much on number 1 and have neglected number 2, which is really important as it is the one that is able to stir emotions and leads to the passion of a the person choosing a course and it naturally links to our target audiences so it will really create an impact. Hmm,sounds a little confusing? haha, I always confuse myself too.

However after alfie's explanation it sent us all thinking deep and i was really enligtened by it. This will really aid us in not repeating the common mistakes often overlooked by us.
And thus, my group was able to come up with more interesting ideas that actually applied to the requirements that we didn't think of initially. I'm glad I got to learn something new again.

I hope to post some pictures of my classmates too, but i don't have the wire that connects my phone to the com. But I'm really glad now, shuxian offered me hers as she has a spare one, really so nice of her! hopefully this will make my boring blog more colourful haha.

Day 1 MOIP1

Its day 1 of MOIP1.

We had a briefing in the lecture theatre and I only just realised this module actually lasts for two blocks. haha.

Till now I am still a little unclear about what we have to do, only that we are required to do a video of our learning jouney here in TP through the past year and it will be shown to 3 class of target audience, O'lvl leavers, parents and the MOI lecturers. We are to give a short introduction of on us and our works too. There will be 2 presentations to do. All in all, it sounds fun but a little difficult.(:

The most shocking thing is that we have to keep a blog throughout this module. Have never reallyhad the habbit of keeping a diary before,
so.. I hope this works. aha.
